Yeah, I'm sick. 102.6 degree fever last time I checked. And I went to work today! Yeah, I'm a trooper. On top of that, I have a serious lower back ache. I've recently increased the intensity of my workouts, and I think that the lower body workout I did this week over did it. Cue the old jokes. Bastards.
So I'm bed-ridden for the evening, and possibly for the weekend. I figured it was a good time to blog.
These days I've been spending a lot of my free time researching law schools and schools that I want to get a bachelor's degree from. That might sound backwards, but I want to get into a good law school so I've been trying to find out what they look for before I choose a bachelor's degree and a school to get it from. Law schools don't look for specific majors in a bachelor degree, but they prefer an applicant with a degree in a rigorous, well-rounded field, and one that has developed the applicant's analytical skills, debate skills and that demonstrates the student's ability to work hard.
I had originally wanted to get a degree in Philosophy, and I still do, but it's slim pickin's for online degrees, which is pretty much the route I'll have to go. I'm looking at Thomas Edison State College, based in New Jersey, and University of Maryland College University. Both have rated high on the Forbes list of online universities, but some additional research I've done hints that UofM's degrees are too easy, which is exactly what I don't want. Although many do say they have an excellent Psychology program online. TESC offers a philosophy degree, but it is through a 'hybrid system'. I need to get more info on it, but it seems to basically be a program that utilizes classes from both TESC and other universities, and the credits are pooled by TESC before they grant the degree. A lot of other universities offer general Bachelor's of Liberal Studies degrees, with a declared area of concentration (such as philosophy), which is essentially the same as majoring in it because the credit requirements seem to be the same. So I'm considering some of those. If I can't find a philosophy program I like, or a liberal studies degree with a concentration in it, I'll have to choose from Psychology, English, Journalism, Political Science, or History. That will be a difficult choice, since I have a sizeable interest in all of them. We'll see what happens.
I also started jujitsu last week, and it's a blast. Though I have a ton to learn! I had to miss class tonight because of my damn illness. But Tuesday night, game on!
For the rest of my time, I've just been hanging out with the good folks of Offutt AFB, Wii-ing, reading, and refreshing my Korean. ??? ?? ???? ?? ? ??! (Enable your Korean script on your computer if you wanna read that...)
Well, thanks for reading my ramble. Have a good weekend everybody!
